On the sidelines of the third World Leisure Expo held in Hangzhou from late October to mid-November, Dr. Roger Coles, chair of the Board of Directors of World Leisure Organization (WLO), led a delegation to visit Zhejiang University on October 21.
Coles was accompanied by WLO Chief Operating Officer Cristina Ortegaas well as other WLO board members and participants of the expo.
Ms. LI Min, director of ZJU’s Office of International Relations, and Prof. GU Jianmin, dean of the College of Education, greeted the delegation at Zijingang campus.
“WLO has close connections with both ZJU and Hangzhou,” LI said in her welcome remarks. “I hope we can deepen our cooperation to contribute to the development and well-being of mankind.”
In his address, Coles said he was very pleased to visit Zhejiang University and meanwhile impressed by the University’s achievements.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the possibility of strengthening collaboration in leisure and health, digitalized leisure, and leisure education, etc.
Prof. ZHOU Lijun, deputy dean of the College of Education, has been a board member of WLO since 2011. Over the past years, several WLO board members have been invited to lecture at ZJU. ZJU also send students to participate in the Future Leaders Program organized by WLO.
Founded in 1952, World Leisure Organization is a world-wide, non-governmental association of persons and organizations dedicated to discovering and fostering those conditions best permitting leisure experience as a force for human development and well-being. The organization operates in consultative status with the United Nations. Events held by WLO include the World Leisure Expo and World Leisure Congress.
